Have you ever wondered how to transfer ownership using OneNote? We can help with that. In the scenario below, a role change necessitates an ownership transfer.
The Scenario
Connie is moving onto a new position at her company. The role is completely different and full of new responsibilities, so she moves ahead with giving her old workflow notes to her assistant, Roger. Connie knows that there is only one way to transfer OneNote packages, but there are two different starting points she can proceed with. If she accesses the file from online, then she has to sign into Office online, go to her notebooks and click Edit in OneNote before moving forward. If she accesses the file(s) from her desktop or applications, then she will immediately have access to OneNote.
After gaining access, Connie opens the file(s) she wants to transfer. Next, she clicks File. Following that, she goes to Export. Here is a screenshot of what her page looks like.
The OneNote Package option should be selected as shown on the right side of the screenshot.
After Connie exports the package, Roger saves it to his computer, which means her information was successfully passed over to Roger. Now Roger has ownership of the OneNote package and is able to upload it to his OneDrive for business.
What If It Doesn’t Work?
If the above steps do not work, then copies must be made manually into new notebooks. In our scenario, Roger would have had to manually save the file(s). This could take longer than the other method due to you being able to only copy one section at a time instead of an entire notebook.
Why Should Your Company Use OneNote?
OneNote is an effective tool to take advantage of if your company specifically uses Microsoft applications. This software helps with taking digital notes and is extremely easy to navigate. It also uses the cloud for storage, creating files that can be accessed across all of your Microsoft applications.
